The Kerkstraat-area is one of the oldest gay-areas around town, and is situated near the Leidseplein, where the Casino and City Theatre are. The Leidseplein is the area for most straight people to go out.

The Kerkstraat however, is a cosy, gay friendly neighbourhood. You will also find the popular Amistad Hotel and Spijkerbar here. Since Club Church opened it's doors here it's also a reviving gay neighbourhood .
