Amsterdam Gay Areas- Amstel area

The Amstel-area used to be the local neighbourhood. It is situated around the Rembrandtplein, a square with lots of terasses outside in summertime. Although about 10 years back it was a great friendly area, in the weekends times appear to have changed. It's barely any better then the Leidseplein nowadays. Anyway, Here you wil find many small gay bars where people meet. Although it once was one of the most vivid gay areas in town, times seem to have changed. You can find some nice bars though like Lellebel (drags) (no. 39). Unfortunately the once popular Gaiety, as well as the late night Shako no longer exists. |
